Well I never thought I'd see the day when I would be the one with a laptop open in a cafe, but the time has come as we're waiting for mum to finish work and get to the station so we can journey back with her, I've got a Macbook, and the station has kindly started providing free internet access. This will be very handy while David and I are waiting for our connections out- and inbound in two weeks time.
Speaking of our trip to Paris in two weeks, I managed to get the thoroughly confusing tickets today, which reminds me I must check the Eurostar ones before we leave this afternoon. So, until the machine at Canterbury took my first part of my return away from me, I was in possession of 14 tickets in total today!
Oh and yeah, I got my Macbook, wahey! The guy in the Apple store reckons I ought to apply for a job there or at least in Bluewater for while I'm at uni.
Well, better check those tickets. Au revoir!

Theres a list of things in my head that I want
One of the things is a necklace of a real flower coated in resin (So pretty!!)
I wonder if I could learn how to make them hmmmmmm
I also want a brown leather messenger bag with a golden buckle and some golden gears painted on it. That could be easy

Whether she was buying it for some granddaughter or herself, I'll never know. All I know is her reaction was inappropriate. I think she even fist-pumped the air. A woman of her 60s!
I've been working on an outline for a class on Christian themes in the works of JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. I will be teaching it at my church for 5 weeks starting in September, and it will mostly be to people who have only a passing acquaintance with their work--possibly never having read LotR or the Narnia books, but only having seen the movies. I am hoping that my little class may spark some interest in both writers by some of the people who attend it.
I have decided to emphasize their fictional work, using their non-fictional work only as a reference to illuminate their fiction. So far my outline is a bit top-heavy on the Tolkien part. I'd like to also include some ideas from some of Lewis' other fiction. But I am trying to think of how to fit these themes into Till We Have Faces and The Screwtape Letters. I am including some things from the Narnia books and the Space Trilogy and The Great Divorce
I have a number of books about both Tolkien and Lewis, as well as access to some from a good library, and will be preparing a bibliography. I'd welcome suggestions for resource books--if you suggest something I'm already considering that's not a problem, as it will indicate to me that I'm on the right track, but I'd love to find some other books as well, while I have time to track them down. (I do have biographies of both men, as well as access to an excellent book about their friendship with one another.) The class starts Sept. 10.
Each major heading indicates that week's topic.

Development Goals and Basic Accounts
Last week we updated our development goals for 2008. Generally we noted a number of cool enhancements and investments to LiveJournal that we are working on, including improved search, usability, and site development. We also wanted to let you know how we hope to accomplish all these things, and how we plan on paying for them. In order to accomplish our stated goals for this year and beyond, we need to increase the revenue gained from both groups of LiveJournal accounts: paid subscription accounts and ad-supported accounts.
As of August 28th, all users will be able to choose to downgrade their account to Basic through their Manage Account page. Additionally, we will start showing advertising to visitors who are not logged in to LiveJournal when they are looking at Basic Account journals and communities.
Basic Account users themselves will not see ads on any Basic journal or community while they are logged in to their account. If you want more information about this, take a look at our new post on
